Fully automatic part handling for heat-treated castings

 

Our plant is part of a large overall system for heat treatment of castings. The castings are loaded into charge carriers. These charge carriers are then transported in a homogenizing furnance and remain there in the slow pass, depending on the component type for several hours. After this process, we are required to remove the heat-treated parts of the heat treatment racks, partly to turn 90 degrees and then to provide the parts into the correct pallets circulating conveyor system. Furthermore, the parts need to be labeled. All these tasks are done via a 6-axis industrial robot, which is equipped with various grippers and gripper-change systems.

Stacking equipment for casting parts

(cylinder, crank case, etc.)

 

Our stacking systems are impressive in their extremely robust design, unique flexibility and short cycle times. In the plant at the moment, four different cylinder head types are being stacked.

 

  • 2D camera technique to determine the casting type and its position with space for stacking.
  • A data matrix reading camera determines the data matrix code and with it all production data for further processing.
  • Database connectivity available with our specially developed "VAP DMC DATABASE" tool.
  • Stacking of different transportation containers, pallets, lattice boxes or heat treatment racks.
  • Graphically guided visualisation for easy parameter setting.
  • Different password levels available only to authorised persons with a special chip
  • Transport of casting pieces, pallets, intermediate layers without a lengthy gripper change. This is made possible by our special gripper technique in which you do not have to change the actual casting gripper.

Heat treatment plant for casting parts

(cylinder heads, crank cases, etc.) 

 

Our heat treatment plant features extremely robust design, unique flexibility and short cycle times. Currently, sixteen different types of cylinder heads are undergoing heat treatment.

Embossing Machine

 

These machines can produce high-quality aluminium coils that are embossed with the data matrix code.

These may subsequently be used to track complete casting parts. All production and process data are stored according to specific parts using the data matrix code.

Assembly Cells

Our assembly cells are conceived, designed and executed according to customer requirements. They may be semi-automatic or fully automatic versions.

 

Assembly cells have been developed for:

 

  • Parts assembly (trade fairs, testing, screws, grouting)
  • Robotics 
  • A tray for small parts (screws, bolts, assembly pieces)
  • Rotary table assembly
  • Pipe cutting machines (cross cutting, cutting, pressing)
